About The Foundation

The Barry & Peggy Goldwater Foundation is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, 501(c)(3) corporation founded in 2017 by Alison Goldwater Ross, its Executive Director and the granddaughter of its namesake.  The mission of the Foundation is to “preserve history for future generations”, through curating, restoring, preserving and showcasing, historic and educational collections of photographs, motion film, and documentation.

Best known as a 5-term U.S. Senator and 1964 Presidential Candidate, the late Barry M. Goldwater was a lifelong, passionate and accomplished photographer, who left behind a treasure trove of over 15,000 photographs and slides, 25 miles of motion picture film and detailed written accounts of his life and the world he lived in.  This documentation was his lasting love letter to his native state of Arizona and to the world. It was his wish that it be enjoyed and utilized by future generations, and that it provide an understanding of our past, for the betterment of our future.
